For this imperial stout, we brewed a thick, creamy beer and treated it with a hefty dose of pure Canadian maple syrup as well as a few pounds of Shady Lane ground espresso beans from Quietly Coffee. The result is a rich, complex beer that balances a smooth sweetness from the maple syrup with deep cherry and dark chocolate notes from the espresso. It pours with a beautiful toffee-coloured foam, and drinks with a lingering bitter-sweet finish.
